What You Will Need for Your Notarization Appointment
The original document(s) to be notarized (unsigned until you are in front of me)
Valid photo identification — I must verify your identity according to California law. Acceptable IDs include:
California Driver’s License or DMV ID Card (current or issued within the last 5 years)
U.S. Passport or Passport Card-10 years
Foreign Passport (with proper stamps if required)
Driver’s License or State ID from another U.S. state
U.S. Military ID Card
Consular ID Card (current or issued within last 5 years)
Tribal ID from a federally recognized tribe
California Inmate ID (if applicable)
The document must be complete — All pages should be filled out except for the signature line(s) you will sign in my presence.
If you do not have acceptable photo ID: You can use two credible witnesses who personally know you, have valid ID themselves, and will swear to your identity under oath.
Witnesses for the document (if required): Some documents (like Advance Health Care Directives or certain deeds) may require additional witnesses. Bring them with you if needed.
